Black Helmet x HERO

Black Helmet’s collaboration with Edward Elson, an FDNY fire inspector for eleven years and the creator behind HERO.

Edward’s original firefighter design was inspired by the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Though he joined the department afterward, working alongside people who knew them gave him a personal connection to their legacy.

That tribute became the foundation for something broader. HERO creates symbols that represent the courage, commitment, and service shared across departments, generations, and communities. They honor those who came before, those on the job today, and those who will carry the work forward.
